Premium Book, Rules and Regs
It is with great
pleasure that the Board of Directors of the Lewis County Agricultural Society
dedicate this 191st edition of the Lewis County Fair Premium Book to
Mr. Wayne
Woodard
Wayne has been “officially” involved with the Lewis County
Agricultural Society for 36 years as a director. This number does not quantify
how long Wayne has had some connection with the Lewis County Fair.
When Wayne was just a young lad (7-8 years old) he was showing
cows and horses at the fair. He and Erin Lundy were known to ride their horses
from Denmark to the fair to compete when they were a little older!
Wayne’s Dad Charles was a director and soon after he passed
away in 1969, Wayne stepped in to fill his place. To this day, Wayne is still loyal to the many ideals he learned from his
father. During fair week, Wayne
spends countless hours making sure all aspects with the horse barn, the various
horse shows and any horse related item run smoothly.
Wayne married Betty Ann Carroll in October 1966. They
operated the family farm from 1970-2006. They still reside on the farm and Wayne manages to keep very busy with his other animals. In
the fall Wayne and his dogs will be out coon hunting and then on to
the rabbits in the winter. He also has two teams of horses that he still shows.
Wayne has been a 4-H leader for 48 years with the Central
Wranglers 4-H Club. He is a member of the 4-H Horse Advisory Committee, a
member of the Northern NY Draft Horse Club and the NNY Hound Club. Wayne is currently employed by Paverite as a truck driver. Wayne
and Betty Ann belong to St. Mary’s Church in Copenhagen.
Wayne and Betty Ann have one
son David and his wife Shelly along with three grandchildren, Dylan, Logan and
Ryan.
The Lewis County Agricultural
Society expresses its sincerest thanks to Wayne for his years of volunteer service.
