The theme for this year's fair is: Sew it, Grow it, Show it, and Tow it. The winning theme was chosen from over 100 entries, and submitted by Martin Lankey. This year's theme is a perfect culmination of what the fair is all about.
This year, the Lewis County Fair was awarded an Ag Awareness grant from the New York Association of Agricultural Fairs(NYSAAF). With these funds, a new companion garden will be constructed in hopes of providing information about crops and their benefits. There are also plans to add a third selfie safety sign by the garden, with the other two located by the dairy industry building and outside the grandstand. These signs, of a multi-scoop ice cream cone and different size barnyard animals, each have a height chart on them. We encourage parents to take a picture of their children each day they are at the fair. This will give parents a current picture including approximate height and what the child is wearing that day. These signs are also a great opportunity for parents to have a keepsake photo of how their children have grown each year.
Did you know that after the opening ceremony and the popular cheese auction, there is a harness race event on Tuesday afternoon? This is a free grandstand event offering an exciting show of athletic horses galloping against each other in different races! This impressive event has been a staple of the Lewis County Fair and we encourage people of all ages to attend and cheer on their favorite horse and jockey.
The evening grandstand events will continue to be your fair favorites: Tuesday night - Fair Parade; Wednesday night - Truck Pull; Thursday night - Tractor Pull; Friday night - Country Music Concert - Lonestar; and Saturday - Demolition Derbies.
We will be welcoming back the Rosaire’s Royal Racers. The racing pigs are a popular show which is family-friendly and engaging! Audience members are even picked from the crowd and included in this fun-loving show. We are also excited to welcome Agricadabra; An educational agricultural show that gets the audience excited to learn about NY States agriculture in a fun and engaging way!
Coleman Bros. Shows will be back in our midway again! The Tuesday night wristband special was so successful last year that they plan to bring it back again this summer. Pre-sale tickets will also be available again this year.
The Lewis County Fair has been a momentous success for these 200 years thanks to all of the amazing local support from our community and sponsors. We thank all of our sponsors and donors big or small. Thanks to these businesses and people we are able to continue our free gate entry, fireworks display, ground act, premium money for entries, and so much more!
